The 2018 Honda Civic Type R has been an elusive creature up until the past few months, and only now is Honda revealing some of the surprises that come along with it. This Type R comes with two transmission options; a six-speed manual, or a continuously-variable transmission.
Packed behind the new design, it is a FWD-only configuration coming with a limited-slip differential up front. This Civic design has been meticulously analyzed to lower the center of gravity compared to the standard hatchback.
This car has been tested at the Nurburgring track with its 2.0 liter 4 cylinder turbocharged engine with 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque managing to get a time of 7 minutes and 50 seconds. That lap time is matching with the legendary BMW E46 M3 CSL, the pinnacle of performance in its day.
